Club Penguin Island | 1.9 Overview

What is new in update 1.9 2.png

Hello, everyone!

The 1.9 update for Club Penguin Island is now available to download on Android and iOS devices!

Despite being smaller than the previous update, there are several new additions to the game. The main part of the update is an event called the Rainbow Celebration. It is, apparently, that time of year when we get to see a rainbow migrate north across the island; it is a pretty magical (and odd) spectacle.

DotAs soon as you log on, you will get a small cutscene where Dot introduces you to this phenomenal occurrence. The whole of Island Central is decked out with vibrant colour and the skybox is a majestic sunset. Dot informs you of the Migration Shop and the rainbow geysers that appear every 5 minutes in Island Central. At the top of each geyser, there is a new collectible called rainbow drops.

What is there to do at this event?

Obviously, it isn’t as bold as the Halloween Party or the Holiday Party, but it can spark some joy if you enjoy waddling around and taking in the colourful awe surrounding you. Besides that, there are no quests or adventures to get up to; only special daily challenges, I imagine. For example, you could earn coins and XP for riding a rainbow geyser.

Speaking of rainbows, there has been a fair amount of exclusive items added to the game. First of all, everyone can obtain the Rainbow Star Tee (it looks great), as well as new fabrics and decals, by logging in during the event. Members exclusively get a Majesteed tube! It’sMigration Shop promising to see more non-member items on offer. Secondly, there is a new party supply members can purchase at the temporary store: rainbow smoothies! Thirdly, a total of 6 new igloo furnishings are available to buy at the store. In my opinion, that’s a good amount! Unfortunately, they are the only igloo items that have been added in this update…

Fear not, however! One of the exciting parts of this update is the addition of two new levels! It had been way too long since we have been given new penguin levels. Excitingly, the new levels indicate who the “purple mascot” is. A while back, I made a discussion on the “purple mascot” and predicted it to be Dot. Well, I was wrong! It is actually Cadence! It was a 50/50 chance, to be honest…

Level 25 and 26 can only be reached through the gain of Cadence’s XP. How can you get this new XP? There are only two ways, at the moment. You either log back on every day Wilderness Outfitto complete her new daily challenge, or you grind on the Island Central dancefloor by participating in Team Dance Battle. Fortunately, you get new clothing items, fabrics, gear and party supplies after ranking up. For example, you can obtain binoculars, bear slippers and an outback hat by being level 25. Sticking with the wilderness theme, you can unlock a Forest Wand. In addition, a chemistry beaker has been added to the roster of party supplies and can be purchased at any market on the island.

Who is the “Purple Mascot”?

Who is the Purple Mascot.png

Hello, everyone!

This is the first Club Penguin Summit discussion on this blog! I have something interesting to discuss and it is something a lot of us have been curious about…

Who is the Purple Mascot”?

Club Penguin Island Level StarFirstly, let me clarify that the purple mascot refers to the missing adventure-assigning mascot. If you look at the image above, you may recognise it as the penguin level icon. If you don’t know, every vertice on the star represents one of the in-game mascots. For example, Aunt Arctic is known as the “Green Mascot” because that is the colour of the XP you earn from her adventures, Rockhopper is the “Red Mascot” because we receive red XP from his adventures, and so on.

At the moment, we only have 3 mascots we receive adventures from: Aunt Arctic, Rockhopper and Rookie. Therefore, we are affirmative of their colours. So, why aren’t we trying to find out who the “Blue Mascot” is? Well, some of the community already have a clue.

Gary.

Each colour on the star has a resemblance, of some kind, to the mascot. We know that Rookie is orange because he wears the orange lifejacket. Aunt Arctic’s penguin colour is green and Rockhopper’s is red. Gary has a blue penguin colour and one of the vertices, on the star, is also blue. As you can see, it is almost certain that we will be receiving adventures from Gary unless a new mascot appears from out of the blue (get it?) and also has a resemblance to blue (hint, hint: Rory?). Rory is actually a possible candidate since he has some funky blue hair (if the team stuck with his concept art).

Anyway, think of who else we have met during our time on Club Penguin Island, so far. Someone who is purple.

It seems pretty obvious that the purple mascot is Dot… right?

Her penguin colour is purple!

Town Sneak Peek

Originally, Dot was the perfect candidate for becoming the purple mascot, however, a new penguin is soon going to steal the spotlight. Cadence.Dot.png

Recently, Club Penguin posted a sneak peek of the new Club Penguin Island Anthem music video – arriving sometime this week – on the Island News blog. I did you all a favour by rotating it 90 degrees (because the sneak peek appears to be upside down). It is a very blurry image that shows off a portion of the new area. Remember, this sneak peek is raw footage from the new Club Penguin Island Anthem music video so nothing has to be permanent – like that gigantic dance floor. Oh, and look who’s in the middle, by the turntable. It looks like DJ Cadence is returning to the island. Cadence is actually a pink penguin but she does have purple streaks in her hair. Just like Rookie wears an orange jacket, even though he is a green penguin. I can see why Cadence is also likely to be the Purple Mascot, although I am still convinced it’s Dot.
