Rory’s Royal Roots

Island Discusion Banner

Hello, everyone!

A big sneak peek was promised – and it was delivered! Joe (SGT Sparkles) recently posted a sneak peek of the upcoming pirate expedition, which should be arriving sometime this week, on Island News! Quite a lot of stuff was teased, but I’m not going to be covering everything funnily enough. Make sure you check out the sneak peek to see all of the juicy details!

When I examined the post, I was intrigued by one thing in particular! A bust, a statue of a familiar penguin… So, I asked the question…

Who exactly is this?

Bust-1

That beard, though.

Some people are theorising that this penguin is linked with the Penglantis mystery. Others think that it could be… Rory messing around with a beard. If you have read my latest Island Discussion blog posts, you will know that I have been hooked by the mystery surrounding the lost city of Penglantis. Personally, I think there is something special about this penguin. There’s a lot of evidence to back me up.

Let’s start off with something simple. Joe has confirmed this is going to be one of several furniture items purchasable from ‘Igloos & Interiors’. In the post, he shared only a few items and provided the name (and a small description) of each one except for the bust, pictured above. Instead, he left 7 question marks like this: “???????“. Did you know that the Box Dimension, on Club Penguin Island, is labelled as “??? ?????????“? The question marks substitute every letter within the name. This was done to uphold secrecy and mystery when the zone was added into the game. If we take a page out of this book, we may infer that the name of the penguin represented in the bust has 7 letters. Therefore, this penguin cannot be Rory; he has 4 letters in his name!

Anyway, why would Joe leave a bunch of question marks if this specific igloo item is ordinary? Exactly! It isn’t ordinary. It’s… extraordinary! The name of this item bears some importance. Perhaps, it is someone we will discover more about during the expedition.

It is evident that this penguin is related to Rory in some way. We cannot deny the resemblance. In fact, some of the characteristics of this mystery penguin are identical to Rory’s (that’s why a few people are lead to believe the bust is Rory)! To highlight this, I have conducted a simple analysis. Instead of explaining it all to you in writing, I have a picture to provide.

Bust Analysis.png

The different coloured circles correspond with the similarities displayed.

The big difference between Rory and the bust is that beard! The long beard implies that the penguin is of a greater age than Rory. Could this mean the statue is of one of Rory’s ancestors? It is highly likely according to the evidence I have in store for you! Also, is that a crown on the penguin’s head? Whatever it is, it suggests superiority. In other words, we could be looking at some royalty. Hmm… haven’t we come across this word before? Only a million times now!

I am going to prove to you that this penguin is a royal ancestor of Rory. I want every piece of evidence to count, so allow me to present it coherently…

The Strange Thing About Crabs

Island Discusion Banner

Hello, everyone!

Have you ever noticed something odd about the crabs on Club Penguin Island?

Most of them can be found at the Crab Den in The Sea Caves. They are treated as “antagonists” in the sense that they obstruct your path and disrupt certain tasks during Adventures. With the exception of Klutzy (more on him later), all of the crabs have thick brows. This is probably to make them more intimidating, but it also emphasises their hostility by making Klutzy look “cute” and “friendly”, which he is portrayed to be.

As expected, crabs have an abundance of treasure and loot deep down in The Sea Caves. So, they are also thieves! In Adventure episodes, such as “Ep. 4 – Mirror Mirror” (from Aunt Arctic Adventures, Chapter Two), one crab steals the last piece of sea glass from the lagoon in Beacon Boardwalk. Overall, crabs are bad news. They don’t seem to be friendly in any way.

However, could this be as a result of something quite peculiar?

Aunt Arctic.png

“That emoji frightened them. How odd.”

The picture above is a piece of dialogue from “Mirror Mirror”. Before setting off to retrieve the stolen sea glass from the mischievous crab, Aunt Arctic claims that crabs “respect” royalty, according to her research. She suggests using a crab disguise and a royal-looking emoji to fool the crabs into giving the sea glass to you. But, once you complete this deed, something strange happens. The crabs get scared off! Thus, Aunt Arctic is curious as to why they reacted in that way. After that, nothing is mentioned again of the crabs.

When I first played this episode, it didn’t strike me as peculiar, but that was only until I played episode 7 from chapter two of Aunt Arctic’s adventures.

In this episode, “Double Click”, Rookie teaches you how to speak crab. Towards the end, he asks you to get fishdogs from the Foodtrekker because he is hungry. On arrival, you find Klutzy with a slice of pizza. Then, you are advised to seize this opportunity by becoming friends with Klutzy to aid the operation to retrieve the stolen Hot Sauce Reservoir. At one point (in emojis) Klutzy asks whether you are royalty. The player has to respond (in crab) by saying “no” so that they can bond with Klutzy. Otherwise, he will get frightened… because crabs seem to fear royalty! Rookie even acknowledges it himself.

Rookie

“Crabs are afraid of kings and queens. Careful what you say.”

Did Rookie know this right from the start (as he is a crab expert, so it seems)? Or did Aunt Arctic pass this information on to Rookie? The answer to this does not matter much for now. What does matter is the fact that this is the second time we have been reminded that crabs are afraid of kings and queens. To me, this reiteration has a purpose. Perhaps it could be hinting towards something or a foreshadowing of something we will learn about crabs in the future.

Of course, I don’t like to leave these mysteries blunt. Let’s dig deeper…

Beyond the Penglantian Portal

Island Discusion Banner

Hello, everyone!

Very soon, everyone will be welcome to embark on a pirate-esque expedition on Club Penguin Island! If you have not heard, the “magical seal of a Penglantian Vault is weakening”. This “magical seal” is apparently on top of the highest waterfall in Coconut Cove (as pictured below). Let’s see if we can work out what exactly is up with this event!

PenglantianVault.png

Ever since I seized the opportunity to test Club Penguin Island during the geo-beta, I have always been intrigued by the penglantian lore around the island. If there is one thing you should know about me, it is that I love mysteries! To my surprise, Club Penguin Island appears to be saturated with them. I can only hope that these mysteries will continue to dwindle and grow as the island ages. Well, lucky for us, we are about to find out even more about the lost city of Penglantis… I hope.

Now, to be honest, I get a bit worried about how mysteries can be dealt with. It’s not the actual mystery itself I get excited about, it is how the mysteries are conjured that amuses me. In a game suited for kids, mysteries are bound to be a lot less complex than a lot of us would hope for. Nonetheless, playing Club Penguin for years and years has proved to me that the team do have the potential to go big! Or should I say small? What I mean by this is that attention to detail is what really matters. Mysteries are only good if they require you to think and explore them yourself. Fortunately, I know that the team behind this game can think beyond what is typically expected. Now and then, they post secrets that can be found during the mascot adventures – most of which I never knew about. Did you know that your specific input can change the way an adventure goes? Not in a drastic way, but there are several small secrets that convey the intricate passion behind each adventure. This gives me hope that the bigger mysteries, regarding Penglantis, will require us to think lots more.

In this post, I am not going to be answering the questions (mainly because we don’t have much information) because, instead, I am going to be asking the questions. To test how well-crafted a mystery is, we need to ask questions and come to some sort of conclusion on how much effort is being put into this mystery. Let’s begin by asking the question: why? Why is there a magical seal weakening at Coconut Cove? There could be an in-depth answer behind it, but we don’t know that yet. Alternatively, the team may have thought it would be cool for there to be a way for penguins to explore more penglantian architecture. The second option is probably the most likely one however I have faith in the team that this weakening seal will have an explanation.

Next, what is the purpose of having this pirate expedition? Is it for fun? Or is it going to set up even more penglantian mysteries? Or, maybe, it will be the conclusion to just one of the mysteries surrounding the lore of Penglantis. Not too long ago, I made a post about Rory’s potential involvement with the penglantian swirl. So far, not much has been teased about this. In the sneak peek post on Island News, Joe gave us minimal detail, but it appears that this event will be more pirate-focused. That leaves me to think that we won’t find out about everything – which is good! That is unless Rory pops up at some point. My rough guess is that the team do have a plan. I have watched as they have meticulously built the mystery through blog posts and the Cadence adventure, “Beach Bash”. I doubt this won’t have some story attached to it.

Finally, where will this Penglantian Vault be? This is the question everyone has been discussing. For this question, I actually have a possible answer! Although it’s important that we also try and nail down the significance of this potential location.

Pahtaitoh.png

In the picture above, we get a pretty good look at (what appears to be) the other side of the portal, thus being the Penglantian Vault! To a few penguins, this location will be familiar. That is because it is almost exactly like “Potato Island” (with the exception of the portal and the wooden post at the bottom-right). Potato Island is only reachable through a glitch that enables players to trespass the invisible borders of Beacon Boardwalk, i.e. they can swim away from shore. Getting to the island can be a little complicated! The island was named “Potato Island” by the community, and it is a cool hangout spot for players to show off their barrier-breaking sorcery.  Continue reading

What’s been going on?

Hello, everyone!

As I’m typing this, I’m beginning to remember how to use this WordPress editor; yes, it’s been that long…

But, you know what, it actually feels good to be back! I have missed the thrill of thinking of a new post to write for this blog. Except, this isn’t going to be your typical Club Penguin Island blog post. This is more of an “update” on what’s been going on with me and why I haven’t been writing posts for a couple of months. To be fair, if you know me well, I take so many “breaks” – accidentally. Sometimes, things get a bit too much for me, so these kinds of posts haven’t been that rare in my blogging journey as a whole.

Here’s my explanation…

Blogging really isn’t my priority. In fact, it never has been. I consider blogging as a hobby to keep me happy. And while it does require time and effort to maintain a good blog (making it feel like a job), it’s always been something I have had a passion for. So what if it means me having to dedicate lots of my time to it? Ideally, I would be blogging all of the time. Being an introverted person, myself, I find it hard to pursue certain hobbies in real life. However, blogging is one of my important vessels to the online world. When you temporarily stop your busy lives to read one of my posts, knowing that really warms my heart. I don’t do it just for that, though. My intent, generally, is to entertain anyone who plays Club Penguin Island. I’ve never been a fan of bringing you the daily news, but I have always tried to deviate and, instead, be more innovative with my posts. When there is something interesting to discuss, I try and get you involved in the comments. Or, when I have a few ideas for the game, I am always curious about what you think of them. Club Penguin Summit has always been about you, primarily. I’ll always be aiming to keep it that way.

The reason why I haven’t posted in ages is that I have so much other stuff on my mind. It’s a simple answer that you will probably understand. It’s not because Club Penguin Island has failed to feed me ideas on what to post. I think the game has been significantly improving during my small hiatus. There would have been lots of stuff to cover if it hadn’t been for my other worries. I guess it’s also fair for me to say that my passion for blogging fluctuates (too often)! Even when I do have the free time, I may not be in the mood. Right now, I am in the right mood to blog, so I thought I might as well make the most of this to let you know what has been going on.

From now on, it will never be easy for me to judge when I will be able to supply more content to the website. My goal is to entertain my readers, and it is a real shame I cannot do it more often. But quality is always better than quantity! I’d much rather spend more time and effort making a post that will intrigue you instead of potentially “exploiting” small, everyday news items that you can literally find on Island News (the official Club Penguin Island blog). There are numerous factors it all depends upon. Do I feel up to it? Will it be worth your time? Is it entertaining? Do I have the time to prioritise this? These questions – and more – are the explanation for my absence. Being bold enough to provide “quality” posts has its problems, but it is all so worth it (I hope).

Speaking of my unprecedented post schedule being “worth it”, I would like to have some feedback on the Community Portfolio. Is it worth it? I do know that a few people out there admire the exhibition of the community’s creations but I, personally, feel that I don’t do a good job at exhibiting them well. This is mainly due to the fact that I don’t pay to keep this website up. Therefore, I don’t get much flexibility in terms of custom design and presentation. It also means I get less traffic, overall. So, is the portfolio worth it? I’m not suggesting I should remove it because there would be absolutely no point in doing so. Really, I’m just curious about what you think of it. Perhaps you would like me to spend more time developing it and creating new ways for people to share their creations to the platform. Please let me know any of your suggestions in the comments below!

Anyway, I think that is all I need to let you know in this post. Something you are probably wondering right now is: when will the next post be? I do have a couple of things I want to share with you all soon. I am hoping that I will be slightly more active, but it all depends on what life demands of me.

Thank you very much for reading!

Let me know if you’re having a good week! Er…a bit random of me to say, but I would like to talk with my audience more and get to know you!
